Prices and special terms for music in care

License for music in care, healthcare and eldercare
For public performance of music for use in nursing homes, hospitals, service houses and privately run elderly care homes, the Licensee pays a fee to STIM as follows.
2026
Single rooms
For music played in residents' rooms on equipment provided by the Licensee, the fee is 82 kronor per bed per year.
Multi-bed rooms
For music played in residents' rooms with equipment provided by the Licensee, the fee is 169 kronor per room/ward per year.
Common rooms
For music played on equipment provided by the Licensee in common areas for residents and visitors, the fee is 869 kronor per room per year.
The minimum annual fee per care provider is 962 kronor.
Rehabilitation and physical training
For music in rehabilitation and training premises, the fee is 1,944 kronor per year.
For music during group training the fee is 172 kr for 10 sessions. For each additional commenced interval of 10 sessions, 172 kronor apply.
Reproduction
For copying, transferring or storing music on e.g. CD or other media for playback during the sessions, the Licensee pays a fee of 100 kr for each copy.
Live music
For free-admission events with live music for a closed audience (up to 300 attendees) in the Licensee's premises, the fee is 367 kronor per occasion.
2025
Single rooms
For music played in residents' rooms on equipment provided by the Licensee, the fee is 81 kronor per bed per year.
Multi-bed rooms
For music played in residents' rooms with equipment provided by the Licensee, the fee is 168 kronor per room/ward per year.
Common rooms
For music played on equipment provided by the Licensee in common areas for residents and visitors, the fee is 862 kronor per room per year.
The minimum annual fee per care provider is 954 kronor.
Rehabilitation and physical training
For music in rehabilitation and training premises, the fee is 1,928 kronor per year.
For music during group training the fee is 171 kr for 10 sessions. For each additional commenced interval of 10 sessions, 171 kronor apply.

For copying, transferring or storing music on, for example, CD or other media for playback during the sessions, the Licensee pays a fee of 100 kr for each copy.
Live music
For free-admission events with live music for a closed audience (up to 300 attendees) in the Licensee's premises, the fee is 364 kronor per occasion.
Definitions and special terms
Note regarding the scope of the License
It is specifically noted that the License does not cover:
- Events with live music for more than 300 attendees or ticketed events with live music.
- Music in serving areas open to residents, visitors and the public.
- Music for use in telephone exchange.
- Music for use at staff parties, on music equipment provided by the employer for the staff, or in staff common areas.
