We make at least eight major payouts during the year for a wide range of music sources. The compensation covers music played in shops, live venues, cinemas, on radio, TV, and much more. For the major streaming services, we make special payouts once per quarter.

The compensation to the music creator and music publisher varies depending on the conditions of the performance. We take into account how many people attended the concert, the ticket price, how much music was played during the entire event – and finally, how many people the Stim royalties will be split between. That is, how many rights holders there are for each of the songs that were performed.

No, you can’t register as a single band entity. Instead, every member who writes lyrics or music must take out an individual membership with Stim. For each song you write, one of you submits a work registration ( to file a work-registration form) to Stim, listing every songwriter and the percentage share each person should receive. That lets us know how to divide the royalties for all your songs. When you fill in the work registration, there’s a dedicated field where you can add your band name.

Put simply, it works like this:

1. Join Stim.
2. Register your songs.
3. Report when your songs are performed live.
4. Receive Stim money up to four times per year.
