Stim royalty payouts

Put simply, it works like this:

1. Join Stim.
2. Register your songs.
3. Report when your songs are performed live.
4. Receive Stim money up to four times per year.

The most important criterion for receiving a payout from Stim is that your songs must have generated at least 100 SEK in total royalties. If your balance is below 100 SEK, the amount will remain in your account until you reach the threshold. Keep in mind that the money may appear in your bank account 1–2 days after the payout date, depending on your bank.

1. A few general things to keep in mind when we make a payout:
   You’ll find information about your individual payout on My Pages under "Mina Stimpengar" or in the mobile app.
2. Your payout is compiled in a receipt with an overview. A couple of days before the payout, you can access the analysis and see which works and music sources generated the most money.
3. To see how much one minute on radio is worth or what you earn from a stream, check the latest minute values.
4. General information about which music sources are included in each payout can be found in Stim’s annual schedule, where you can also see what we’ll be paying out in the coming months.

You can find your income statement by logging in to My pages. Then click on "Mina Stimpengar" in the menu, and you'll find a dedicated button for the income statement at the top of the page. See the image example below this text.

The income statement is a summary of the total Stim compensation we paid out to you during the previous year. We also send this information to the Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket). On Mina Sidor, you can access your income statements for the past five years.

If you’re missing a payment, you should submit a claim to us via My Pages. Keep in mind that there may be natural reasons for a delay in your payment. For example, we need to ensure that we’ve been paid by the organiser who used your music, that we’ve received a reporting document, that your work registration is complete, and that the amount due meets the minimum threshold for payout.

The compensation to the music creator and music publisher varies depending on the conditions of the performance. We take into account how many people attended the concert, the ticket price, how much music was played during the entire event – and finally, how many people the Stim royalties will be split between. That is, how many rights holders there are for each of the songs that were performed.

Stim collaborates with music organizations in almost every country in the world. When your music is played in another country, it is the organization in that country that collects payment for the use of the music. The money is then sent to Stim, and we pay it out to you. The compensation you receive and for which types of usage varies between countries. If you know that your music has been played in another country, you can log in to My pages and submit a claim to Stim. We will then contact the organization in that specific country to ensure you receive the compensation you are entitled to.

Yes. Your track must be released by either a record label or an aggregator. Their role is to supply YouTube with a recording of your song—known as a reference file. This is a prerequisite for the track to be picked up by YouTube’s automatic song-identification system, which means that simply registering your song with Stim is not enough to generate royalties from YouTube.

Video clips that include music but don’t trigger an automatic match can sometimes be matched manually. The minimum requirement for manual matching is 100,000 views within one month in a single country.
