Questions and answers about the price adjustment for streamed music to video behind a paywall
On July 1st 2024, Stim introduced a price adjustment for licenses for streamed music to video behind a paywall. This adjustment aims to harmonise fees with the European market and affects licensees offering streamed services. Below is a summary of the most important changes.
Why are you changing the prices?
The price adjustment follows the general price developments in Europe and aims to harmonise our fees with the European market. The current pricing model has been unchanged since it was introduced in 2021. According to § 13 "Change of terms" in the general terms and conditions, Stim has the right to change its prices. Changes to the terms, together with information about the date when the change takes effect, shall be notified no later than one month before the change comes into effect.
You can find Stim's general terms and conditions here.
What is the new price?
The price is adjusted from 12 to 15 percent. The minimum price is SEK 852 (unchanged). If the customer also wishes to license synchronisation rights, an additional 1.5 percent applies, making the total price in those cases 16.5 percent.
When does the change take effect?
As of July 1st 2024, the price for Stim's license for streamed music to video behind a paywall (ticket) is adjusted. The price change comes into effect for each customer only at the renewal of their contract period. This means that if a customer's contract period expires, for example, on December 31st 2024, the old price applies for the entire contract period, and the new price applies from January 1st 2025 when the new contract period begins.
Summary of information about the price increase starting July 1st 2024
The licensee pays 15 percent of the music-related revenue and 1.5 percent if the customer also wishes to license synchronisation rights, for a total of 16.5 percent. The price change takes effect at the renewal of the contract period after July 1st 2024.
Music-related revenue refers to the total revenue from ticket sales, membership fees, advertising or other income related to the offering of streamed video with music, excluding VAT. Music-related revenue is defined as all or a reasonably estimated proportion of this revenue, depending on how large a part music constitutes in the service and the revenue. For example, for a music concert, music-related revenue is always 100 percent of the revenue.
The minimum fee is SEK 852 per event for live-streamed concerts (including the synchronisation fee). For other productions, a minimum fee of SEK 852 per month applies in total for the licensee's productions under this license (including the synchronisation fee). A monthly minimum fee also applies to on-demand concert offerings (in addition to any minimum fee for live-streaming a concert).
This license applies to licensees with a maximum license fee to Stim of SEK 100,000 per calendar year for the relevant licensing area. For licensees with a higher license fee, please contact Stim for a tailoured agreement.
