License for streamed music to image – with payment/ticket
2026
For streaming music with video online from your own productions—such as live-streamed concerts, fitness classes, or other streamed video content where users are charged a fee—the licensee pays a licensing fee as outlined below.
Price
The licensee pays 15% of the music-related revenue, with an additional 1.5% synchronization fee.
Music-related revenue includes total income from ticket sales, membership fees, advertising, or other income connected to streaming video content with music, excluding VAT. The revenue is defined as either the full amount or a reasonable portion thereof, depending on the role music plays in the service and its income.
For example, in the case of a music concert, music-related revenue is always considered to be 100% of the total income.
- The minimum fee is SEK 1,113 per event for live-streamed concerts (including the synchronization fee).
- For other productions, a minimum fee of SEK 1,113 per month applies for all of the licensee’s productions under this license (including the synchronization fee).
- The monthly minimum fee also applies to offering on-demand concerts (in addition to any minimum fee for live-streaming a concert).
This license applies to licensees with a maximum licensing cost to Stim of SEK 100,000 per calendar year for this particular licensing area. For licensees exceeding this amount, please contact Stim for a separate agreement.
Scope of the License
The license includes, with the limitations stated in the License Agreement:
- The right to synchronize (combine) music with visuals. The synchronization license applies to streaming to users in Sweden during the license validity period. This includes, for example, fitness classes, art projects, concerts, and religious services.
Please note: This synchronization right does not cover commercials or other advertising purposes, intros or theme music, TV productions or similar online content, TV drama, cinema films, short films, feature films, documentaries, or corporate presentations intended for external use. In these cases, a synchronization license must be obtained from other rights holders. [Read more here] about synchronization and the relevant licensing bodies.
It is also noted that a separate license is required from the owner of the master recording if an original recording is used in a production. - The right to store copies of the music on servers as part of the productions, to the extent necessary for streaming the content to users in Sweden, live or on-demand.
- The right to stream productions with both music and video online, either live or on-demand, to individual users in Sweden who access the licensee’s service for personal and non-commercial use.
Payment Terms and Agreement Duration
The licensee shall pay the fee according to the interval specified in the License Confirmation or Special Agreement. These documents also indicate whether payment should be made in advance or retrospectively. If payment is made retrospectively, specific reporting rules apply as described in the General Terms and Conditions.
Contrary to what is stated in the General Terms and Conditions, the following applies regarding the duration of the agreement:
The license is valid until the end of the current calendar month and is automatically renewed monthly unless either party terminates the agreement in writing before the end of the month.
Special Conditions
The licensee is obligated to structure the online service in such a way that only intended users can access the content. This includes the ability to control access to the service (e.g., via a payment feature).
Notes on the Scope of the License
- The license is valid only in Sweden.
- It does not apply to free-to-access live-streamed events. For such cases, see: Prices and special terms for Streamed music with image – not fee-based.
- It does not apply to the public performance of live music for a physical audience, or the public performance of streamed events to a physical audience. For these cases, see: Prices and terms for Live Music.
