Music publisher responsibilities
Your music publisher can influence whether Stim payments reach you faster and with greater accuracy. Here you'll find tips on how to create the best possible conditions for your compensation.
A music publisher's commitments and responsibilities towards Stim can be summed up as what needs to be handled on an ongoing basis to keep the royalty flow intact and to ensure high quality musical work data. Here are a few tips.
Three prioritized areas of responsibility
Register your musical works as soon as possible
Having the correct information about a musical work registered with Stim is always the highest priority, but it is almost as important to register works of music as soon as possible. A delay of a few weeks can mean that the payment reaches you much later and sometimes not with the same match quality as if we had had the information from the start.
Report when your music is played
If works of music you represent are performed live or used in advertising, you must make sure that everything is reported. Proactivity is important here too, in order for your musical works to be captured in the reports we receive from our customers and partners.
Keep the publisher's details up to date
Bank account details, powers of attorney and payment instructions must always be correct and up to date so that Stim payments can be made as smoothly as possible. Remember that when a power of attorney is sent to Stim, the publisher must also inform whether the person has their own sole trader business or company. In that case the transfer form must also be included.
