Music Publishers
What does a sub-publisher do?
This concerns the music publisher’s management of its music rights. A so-called original publisher transfers the rights to its songs to a sub-publisher – but only for use of the music in a specific country or several specific countries. This only applies for the period specified in the agreement between the original publisher and the sub-publisher. The sub-publisher is then entitled to receive payment for public performance within the specified country, and/or so-called “mechanical reproduction”.
